FLEMINGTON — A 64-year-old Borough resident drove his car into the side of a building at the rear of 78 Main Street, the address of the Potting Shed, next door to the union Hotel today at about 12:20 p.m.

The driver, Michael Cleary, apparently suffered a medical ailment while driving his car in the parking area behind the hotel. In the process of making a left turn into an alley towards Spring Street, the front passenger side of the dark-colored 2000 Pontiac Bonneville sedan he was driving hit the building wall.

Arriving police and rescue units had to break the driver’s side front window in order to extract Cleary from the vehicle because although Cleary was awake, he was not responsive, the car doors were all locked, and the transmission was still in drive, according to investigators.

Cleary was transported by ambulance to Hunterdon Medical Center for treatment. The car was towed from the scene to Hinelines Garage on Allen Street in Flemington.
