Stay on track
Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is to present the program "Staying on Track" at 6:30 p.m. June 13 in Frost Kalnow Room.
Presented by Kim Kancler, local teacher and founder of Helping Hands Learning Center LLC, the program is to teach participants ways to help children beat summer learning loss. Goody bags with learning materials are to be given to all who attend.
The program is open for families of children ages preK-5 and is to include activities, toys and books for children.

Children to participate in folktales and crafts
Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is to host "Folktales and Crafts" as part of the Junior Library's summer reading program, "One World, Many Stories."
There are to be four sessions, 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., Wednesday in the Frost Kalnow Room. The program is for all ages. All sessions are to be the same but numbers are limited to due to space and supplies.
Tickets are to be handed out as children arrive, and groups of 20 are to be taken at a time. A parent or other adult must accompany children 5 and younger. No registration is necessary.
Library hosts senior party
Sixth-nine guests attended Tiffin-Seneca Public Library's annual party for seniors May 19. "Experience Italy" was the theme. Residents and staff from Good Shepherd Home, St. Catherine's Manor, St. Francis Nursing Home and Chiara Unit, Friedman Village, Ruffing Family Care Center in Tiffin and Tiffin Developmental Center participated.
'Where in the World Have You Read?'
BLOOMVILLE - "Where in the World Have You Read?" is Bliss Memorial Public Library's annual teen and adult summer reading program.
In order to participate, patrons can stop in the library and sign their names on a suitcase and pick up reading tickets. Participants can read one book or three magazines per ticket and return them for a chance to win in the weekly drawings.
The library also has a summer reading program for students in grades K-4. Readers are to celebrate "One World, Many Stories" with folktales, crafts, music and more.
Programs are 1 p.m. Thursdays throughout the month of June.

OB Providers: 17P information - Buckeye Community Health Plan
Recent FDA approval of K-V Pharmaceutical’s version of 17P will be marketed under the brand name Makena. The AWP release price is $1,800 per injection. FDA approval is for initiation between 16 and 21 weeks gestation. Centene health plans, including Buckeye Community Health Plan, have been using local compounding pharmacies that have provided the injections for $10-$20 per injection since 2005.
One such compounding pharmacy, PharMerica, in conjunction with Alere, Inc., will continue to provide a package of 17P injections in the patient’s home by an OB nurse, along with a weekly assessment by the nurse, for a very reasonable cost. They will also provide patient education materials related to preterm labor/pregnancy complications and a weekly report to the prescribing physician.
Alere’s 17P is preservative-free, which differentiates this product from Makena. Most obstetricians have preferred to use preservative-free influenza vaccines in pregnant patients to avoid any controversy about preservatives and their possible negative impact on the fetus.
Centene plans, including Buckeye, will offer 17P Administration service with Alere, Inc. as our preferred provider. Each patient receiving the Alere, Inc. service will need her obstetrician to write a prescription for preservative-free 17P.
We believe that the Alere, Inc. service will help provide your high risk patients with 17P at a higher level of quality and reasonable cost.
We are in agreement with the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of OB/GYN and the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine’s position on the unreasonable pricing of Makena by KV pharmaceuticals.
