3.x , 95 , 98 , 2000 , Me , xp , vista , 7, and now 8.. with a NEW Interface! but its not really a new interface as much as it is an 'app' that hooks your input, and sync's with what seems to be a slightly upgraded? windows 7 OS. ill take a look at

Someone gave me an old laptop with Windows 95.I have a CD Drive for the laptop. My desktop has XP,and I have an A drive for floppy discs. Is there a way that I can download Windows 98 or higher to a floppy,then download it to my laptop? Will I have to clean out the laptop before I install the new software? Or can I just download 98 onto a CD and then download that CD onto my laptop that has windows 95? This is confusing to me. Any help would be appreciated!
I have a wireless adapter that only works on Windows 98 or higher. Someone mentioned something about Linux! I know nothing about that

Answer by Chaille L Buy a Windows 98 CD, then get an external CD drive for the 95 laptop. Connect the external CD drive then install Windows 98 using the external CD drive (enter the Windows 98 CD then reboot the system).
BTW I think you wouldn't be able to install Windows XP on a designed-for-Windows-95 System. Where'd you get the laptop anyway, it should have been in trash.

1) WIndows 95 was the final windows version that came on 3.5 floppy disk.
2) WIndows 98 has not been available for purchase in the store for about 4 years.
3) You are going to need to borrow a friends Win98 CD, or download one from mininova.org
4) I would not suggest installing XP on a machine that was manufactured to run 95. The system requirements for XP are much much higher than 95.
5) You can not transfer 98 from a computer to a CD. Nor can you do this with XP. You will need the original ( or copy of the original ) disc.
**6) Windows 98 came out before windows activation was implemented. As long as you are given the CD key from your friend ( or download a copy with the CD/Registration Key attached ) you’ll be able to install with no problem. But keep in mind that Microsoft has disabled automatic updates for Win98, so what you install is what you get. Nothing more.
